Isn't it wonderful to see all these again? The winters are so dead and lifeless. That is an amazing butterfly Mingfei. At first I thought that its wings were broken but then I saw the edge of the pattern around it and realized that that was how is was naturally.
ReplyDeleteI have discovered at there are some insects which do not look like they are supposed to. :) Like flies which look like bees. LOL!!

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you! When I was living in my hometown, the Spring City--Kunming, the day keeps warm all year round, and I know nothing about the beauty of different seasons. Now the season changes in Beijing makes me realised how amazing it is when watching flowers and buds come alive from dead winter.
Your first thought of the butterfly is right! It's a last year's butterfly and woke up after a winter of hibernation. So it's wings were getting broken during the long period. You can see the undamaged one hereThese photos except the first and the last one were taken by another camera owned by one of my friends--we exchanged our cameras to play. I have to say her camera behaves so great in macro photography!
A lot of insects disguise them selves as poisonous species to protect themselves from predators. What a wonderful nature!
Beautiful shots once again. The little leaf beetle is a great shot, great way to break up the boredom of a long class...photography!

ReplyDeleteThese are bugs in my campus, West Campus of China Agricultural University. You don't have to envy me. If I were right, you live in Malaysia uh? There are zillions of exotic creatures in the rain forest of your country! It is me who is envying you!
Mingfei, I can see how Joan and yo are friends ;) you have similar interests! I love the butterfly, because of it's frivolous form. I like to paint it sometime. Do I have your permission? Also, I would like to get a bigger close up (to see details of the body), but when I click on the image nothing happens.
ReplyDeleteI have great interest in China, because my son teaches English there - this is his third year. After his first year we (son, hubby and I) made a trip together to Shen-shen, Nanchang, Quang-Zhou, and Beijing. When the men went to the Great Big Wall, I went painting on my own in the open air. I wondered about the curious looks people gave me, but later I heard that Chinese artists there do not paint in the streets:)
