Summer of 2009: Mengding 3

Dai people live in warm and wet areas. The climate contributes a lot not only to their wealthy lives, but also to the good environment around their villages. Dai people love nature very much. In old times they live in bamboo houses. Although now they build with bricks and cement, every family still own a yard with their houses. In the yard the plant all kinds of fruits, beans, melons, flowers and trees. Amount the plants fly all kind of butterflies and bees. How I wish I had such a garden!

Now let's see what Dai people have in their garden?

  1. Simply lovely, I too wish I had a garden such as these. Our cold winter months don't allow for such lovely tropical plants.

  2. Beautiful, Mingfei! I don't recognize the fruit(?) in the third pic...and the white flower with the red on top is so pretty!
How far North do the Dai people live? If you mention some wellknown big city in that region, I'll google it:)

  3. I recognise most of these from here Mingfei as our climate is very sub-tropical too. How wonderful to live in places like this were everything grows so well.

You can google "Ruili 瑞丽"or"Xishuangbanna 西双版纳" in Yunnan. These are the place where the most Dai people in China live.
